Eye diagnostics and consultations
Accurate diagnostics underpin every treatment decision. We examine on equipment from the world leaders – ZEISS and HAAG-STREIT.
An eye consultation at OKUMED includes visual acuity and refraction testing, intraocular pressure measurement, slit-lamp examination of the anterior segment and a fundus examination. Depending on the findings we extend it with imaging performed on site, the same day.
Macular and optic nerve OCT
Optical coherence tomography shows the layers of the retina and optic nerve with micrometre precision. The key examination in AMD, macular oedema, epiretinal membranes and glaucoma.
OCT angiography
Non-invasive imaging of retinal and choroidal vessels without contrast dye – in diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion and AMD.
Corneal topography and aberration analysis
A map of the corneal shape and measurement of higher-order aberrations (spherical aberration, coma, angle kappa). Essential before choosing a toric, EDOF or trifocal lens and in the diagnosis of keratoconus.
Optical biometry
Precise measurement of the eye's length and corneal curvature to calculate intraocular lens power before cataract surgery and RLE.
Ocular ultrasound
Ultrasound of the eye when the optical media are opaque (e.g. advanced cataract, vitreous haemorrhage) and for assessing intraocular lesions.
Visual field testing (perimetry)
Computerised visual field testing for the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmic disease.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral?
No. OKUMED is a private clinic – you can book by phone, WhatsApp or online.
Will my pupils be dilated?
Fundus examination and some imaging require pupil dilation with drops. The effect lasts a few hours, during which you should not drive.
How should I prepare for the visit?
Please bring your previous eye records, glasses and a list of medications. Contact lens wearers should remove their lenses before the examination; before corneal topography or biometry lenses need to be left out for longer – we advise on the details when you book.
How much does a consultation cost?
An eye consultation costs PLN 300–500 depending on the doctor, a consultation with OCT PLN 400–500. Additional tests (OCT, OCT angiography, ultrasound, topography, visual fields) – PLN 200 each.
